2023 Benchmark Report: Living Wage Report for Rural Areas and Small and Medium Size Towns of Lagunes, Vallée du Bandama and Lacs Districts of Cote D’Ivoire
Abstract
This report estimates the living wage for rural areas and small and medium size towns in Lagunes, Vallée Du Bandama and Lacs Districts of Côte d’Ivoire. Although the focus was on the banana industry, living conditions of rural workers in study areas are shaped by overlapping rural and urban dynamics. Therefore, the living wage estimate applies to rural areas and small and medium size towns of study districts, regardless of industry or occupation – as all workers in a location have the same cost of living. This report is part of a series of living wage reports for the Anker Research Institute using the Anker Methodology® to estimate living wages around the world. The gross living wage (aka living wage) estimate for rural areas and small and medium size towns in Lagunes, Vallée du Bandama and Lacs Districts of Côte d’Ivoire for July 2023 is CFA 174,497 (US$ 292) per month (using an exchange rate of CFA 596.7 to USD).
