Reference Value Report: Living Wage Report and 2024 Update for Rural Morocco

This report updates the Anker Living Wage Reference Value for rural Morocco to 2024. This was MAD 2,249 (USD 233) for 2020 in the original report2, comprised of a Net Living Wage of MAD 2,097 (USD 217), plus a social security contribution of MAD 152 (USD 16). The updated Anker Gross Living Wage for 2024 is MAD 2,626 (USD 263) per month, comprised of a Net living Wage of MAD 2,449 (USD 246), plus MAD 177 (USD 18) which would need to be paid by law in social security contributions on the living wage. Inflation in this period was 16.8%3. Without accounting for inflation, the Living Wage estimated in 2020 would not be sufficient for families to have a basic but decent standard of living in 2024, because the purchasing power of the Living Wage would have decreased. Mandatory deductions were calculated using the most up-to-date tax laws.
