This report updates the Anker Living Wage Reference Value for rural Cameroon to 2024. This was CFA 104,623 (USD 181) for 2020 in the original report, comprised of a Net Living Wage of CFA 93,722 (USD 162), plus income tax and a social security contribution of CFA 10,901 (USD 19). The updated Anker Gross Living Wage for 2024 is CFA 131,224 (USD 215) per month, comprised of a Net living Wage of CFA 114,549 (USD 188), plus CFA 16,675 (USD 27) in mandatory pay deductions which would need to be paid by law as a contribution to social security (4.2%), housing fund (1%), and income tax (11%) . Inflation in this period was 22.22% . Without accounting for inflation, the living wage estimated in 2020 would not be sufficient for families to have a basic but decent standard of living in 2024, because the purchasing power of the living wage would have decreased. Mandatory deductions were calculated using the most up-to-date tax laws.

This was CFA 155,746 (USD 269) for 2020 in the original report2 .The updated Anker Living Income for 2024 is CFA 190,356 (USD 312) per month. The updated value takes into account the inflation accumulated in the country in this period, which was 22.22% . Without accounting for inflation, the Living Income estimated in 2020 would not be sufficient for families to have a basic but decent standard of living in 2024, because the purchasing power of the Living Income would have decreased.
