Reference Value Report: Living Wage and 2024 Update for Urban Jordan

This report updates the Anker Living Wage Reference Value for urban Jordan to 2024. This was JOD 361 (USD 508) for 2022 in the original report2, comprised of a Net Living Wage of JOD 334 (USD 470), plus a social security contribution of 27 (USD 38). The updated Anker Gross Living Wage for 2024 is JOD 372 (USD 524) per month, comprised of a Net living Wage of JOD 344 (USD 485), plus JOD 28 (USD 39) which would need to be paid by law as social security contributions (7.5%) on the living wage. Inflation in this period was 2.9% Without accounting for inflation, the Living Wage estimated in 2022 would not be sufficient for families to have a basic but decent standard of living in 2024, because the purchasing power of the Living Wage would have decreased. Mandatory deductions were calculated using the most up-to-date tax laws.
